Why Choose the Everglades for a School Field Trip?
Take your students on an educational and entertaining Everglades field trip. The Florida Everglades is a vast, fascinating and unspoiled resource that we have the privilege of experiencing in our efforts to educate our children. The flora and fauna of this wetland include over 2000 different varieties of plants, over 20 different types of birds, and hundreds of other unique and interesting species to learn from. The Everglades ecosystem itself is a fantastic tool for teaching, and it’s all conveniently located in our own South Florida backyard.
Like nearly all natural habitats, the Everglades are under threat. Development and drainage issues have shrunk the South Florida wetlands down to a fraction of their original size. While a large portion of the ecosystem is a protected national park, work must be done to preserve this resource for future generations. At Everglades Holiday Park, we have found that the best way to do this is by educating kids about the important role the ‘Glades play in all our lives. While shows like Animal Planet’s Gator Boys are an important form of outreach, there’s no substitute for a visit to the park itself.
